Hi, I’m Matthew Olckers, an economics researcher based at the Centre for Household Finance at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. This Substack allows me to share my thoughts on how algorithms and automation impact how we use our money.
I am sharing my early stage ideas here so I can get your feedback. Think of it as evolving my research in public. I expect I will make many mistakes along the way and, hopefully, learn from the mistakes quickly. If I am not a tad embarrassed by what I wrote a few months before, then I am probably not learning fast enough.
